Staying organized is a challenge for everyone. However, those living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have unique obstacles when it comes to maintaining an organized home. Nevertheless, with the right strategies and support, IT IS POSSIBLE to create an environment that fosters productivity, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being. In this blog post series, we’ll explore practical tips and actionable advice for organizing your home if you’re navigating life with ADHD.
- Start Small, Stay Focused:
- Prioritize tasks and tackle one area at a time to prevent overwhelm.
- Break down tasks into smaller, more manageable steps.
- Set a timer for short bursts of focused organizing. (You will be surprised how many little things you can.do in a short amount of time. We’ve learned we can empty the dishwasher in the time it takes to cook oatmeal in the microwave.)
- Create a Centralized Command Center:
- Designate a specific area for important items, such as keys, wallets, and schedules.
- Utilize bins, hooks, and baskets to keep things visually organized.
- Implement a daily routine of putting your important items back into their proper place. (Many
- clients find doing this at the end of their day transitions nicely into their bedtime routine–you get your house “ready for bed.”)
As professional organizers we organize things, but it’s the owners of those things that make our work wonderful and rewarding. Some of our favorite people are those living with ADHD. If you’d like to start a partnership in managing your home organization weekly, monthly, yearly or as needed text us at 385-215-8295 or click ➡️ https://pocketsuite.io/link/the-whole-package
Here is what one of those favorite people, our client Zaneta, says:
This is my second time hiring Mary to help me organize. This time I added an additional person as we were tackling the garage. I’m naturally organized but neurodivergent and super sentimental so having the guidance and help makes all the difference. Mary is able to guide tasks, encourage, and ensure things are in a good place. The fact they take all the donations and trash when they leave is such an added bonus. I will for sure use The Whole Package Organizing again.
