There are many ways that hiring a professional organizer can help you keep your sanity before, during and after a move, not to mention adding to the value of your home. We often work with realtors and clients who are getting houses ready to go on the market. The first item of business is to declutter in preparation for staging. I can’t tell you how many clients have told us that their home sold for much more because of the time and money they invested in decluttering–getting professional advice on what to donate, sell, or pack in storage–and help getting it done in time! We can take carloads of donations for you, post items to sell on KSL.com, and help securely pack what needs to go in clearly labeled boxes. We can also stage rooms with furniture and decor that you own.
Next comes moving day. When I moved a year ago, lots of kind people volunteered to help. I tried to make it easier to get the boxes where they needed to go by labeling each box and room with a corresponding color: red for my bedroom, yellow for kitchen, orange for basement, etc. I also had a command station of tasks that needed to be done on post-it notes so that when someone finished what they were working on, they could go pick another task (hook up dryer hose, connect fridge water line, assemble beds, and so on). My helpers loved the post-it note system and it made the whole process fun and efficient.
Finally comes the never-ending task: unpacking. Doesn’t this seem to go on forever, right when you’re exhausted from the move, getting used to new surroundings, homesick, and not able to find what you need? The relief from getting a team of seasoned organizers to help you finish the job is palpable. You’ll be amazed at how quickly a team can unpack your house, and can rest easy knowing your home is being set up with organized systems and flow from the get-go. Give us a call and let us take the headache out of moving for you!
